The Gillette House Bed and Breakfast | A Piece of Mexico, Missouri History

As a brief introduction, welcome to our home; we hope you will join us in the near future.

Throughout our lives, we have called Mexico, Missouri, home. Paul Gillette is a retired Army Officer, a 1970 Graduate, and a retired Missouri Military Academy staff member. Lawanah Gillette is a 1969 Graduate of Mexico High School and a retired Registered Nurse.

Built-in 1892 by retired Steamboat Captain William French and his wife Mollie, this charming Victorian home is of Queen Ann, Steamboat Gothic Design characterized by an asymmetrical appearance from any viewpoint and intricate detail designs throughout the exterior facade. Three large porches adorn the home.

This home was purchased in 1995 by Paul and Lawanah Gillette, the sixth owners/caretakers of this lovely home. Paul and Lawanah have painstakingly and lovingly restored the exterior and interior of this home for almost 30 years, preserving and accenting its Victorian charm while adding modern conveniences.

The Gillette House Bed and Breakfast feature three spacious second-story bedrooms, a large bathroom with shower, tub, and two lavatories; a second bath is available on the main floor featuring a large walk-in shower. Additionally, there is a small TV room with a microwave, an apartment-size refrigerator, and a few snacks for late-night cravings. This room also has a daybed with a trundle to accommodate children on your visit.

The entire second floor of the house is a perfect setting for a family occasion or a visit to Mexico, Missouri. WiFi is available for your convenience as well.

The large dining room is used to serve your breakfast and is available for your use as well for small gatherings or meetings.

Breakfast features farm-fresh eggs, breakfast meats, fresh fruit in season, and sweetbreads from favorite family recipes. Your breakfast can be adapted to meet your special dietary requirements; please let us know in the comments section of the reservation form how we can accommodate you. Breakfast is served to suit your schedule.
